Changing Regional and Language Options for Your Organization

You can change the format in which dates, times, numbers, and currencies are displayed in Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online. If you you have installed one or more Language Packs for your Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online implementation, you can also select the language in which the user interface and Help are displayed.

Setting the Base Language

The base language determines default settings for regional and language options in Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online. The base language for your organization's implementation is determined by the language in which Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online is installed on the server. For more information, see the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 Implementation Guide. After the base language is set, it cannot be changed.

Installing Language Packs

Before you can enable additional languages for your users, you must install Language Packs on the server that is running Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online. For more information, see the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 Implementation Guide.

You can enable or disable available languages in the Settings area. More information: Language Settings Dialog Box

Adding and Removing Currencies

The base currency for your organization's implementation of Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online is set during the installation process on the server. After the base currency is set, it cannot be changed.

However, if your organization uses more than one currency to track financial transactions, you can add more currencies to your implementation of Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online. More information: Language Settings Dialog Box

Currency records include details about the currency, including:

When you save financial information in a record, Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online converts the monetary values in the record to the base currency. This conversion ensures that all financial information is available in one currency for reports and other types of data analysis.

Deactivating and Activating Currency Records

You cannot delete currency records that are being used by other records, such as opportunities or invoices. However, you can deactivate unnecessary currency records, and they will no longer be available in Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online for future transactions.

If a deactivated currency record becomes necessary again, you can reactivate it.
