Edit the messages displayed for a system entity

Can I do this task?

When you customize system entity or system attribute display names, some messages displayed by Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online will reference the default display names. Edit the default messages to match your customized display names.

  1. In the Navigation Pane, click Settings, click Customization, and then click Customize Entities.
  2. In the list of entities, open the entity which has custom display names set.
  3. Under Details:, click Messages.
  4. For each message you want to change, double-click the message, and then in the Custom Display String box, modify the message.
  5. In the message form, click Save and Close.
  6. In the entity form, click Save.
  7. When your customizations are complete, publish your customizations:
    • To publish customizations for the entity you are currently editing, on the Actions Action menu button menu, click Publish.
    • To publish customizations for all entities at once, open the Customize Entities list. On the More Actions menu, click Publish All Customizations.
    • To publish customizations for specific entities, open the Customize Entities list and select the entities you want to publish. On the Actions toolbar, click Publish.

Note

Some messages contain numbered parameter placeholders that look like this:{0}. These are used to provide a reference to a current record or other related record. Do not change these parameter placeholders.
