This article describes how to configure the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Server and the Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) 2007 for Internet-facing deployment (IFD) to allow users to access Microsoft Dynamics CRM using the List Web Part.
Prerequisites
Before you configure the List Web Part for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 for IFD, ensure that:
- Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 (Windows SharePoint Services 3.0) SP1 or MOSS 2007 SP1 is already installed.
- Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 Server is configured for IFD. For more information, see Configuring Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 for Internet-facing deployment.
- List Web Part for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 is installed on Windows SharePoint Services or MOSS.
Additional configuration settings for List Web Part
When a List Web Part user accesses Microsoft Dynamics CRM Server (On-Premise or IFD), authentication is based on the IP address of the List Web Part user. However, authentication for IFD for Microsoft SharePoint is based on the URL used to access it.
If Microsoft Dynamics CRM users want to use the List Web Part while they are signed on within the company network or externally from the Internet, you must configure Windows SharePoint Services or MOSS and Microsoft Dynamics CRM using the IFD mode. You must also set the subnet mask in the Microsoft Dynamics CRM IFD configuration so that Windows SharePoint Services or MOSS recognizes the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Server as an IFD installation. Microsoft Dynamics CRM List Web Part users must also use the IFD URL of Microsoft Dynamics CRM.
To configure the List Web Part for Microsoft Dynamics CRM, make additional configuration settings in the following:
- Microsoft Dynamics CRM Server
- Windows SharePoint Services or MOSS
- List Web Part user's computer
Additional settings in Microsoft Dynamics CRM Server configuration for accessing the List Web Part
On the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Server that is configured as IFD, do the following steps:
- Log in as an Administrator.
- Open the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Internet Facing Deployment Configuration Tool and specify a value for the subnet mask, for example, 255.255.255.255.
For more information about using the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Internet Facing Deployment Configuration Tool, see How to use the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Internet Facing Deployment Configuration Tool.
- Edit the Host file, typically found in <windir>\system32\drivers\etc, to add the following host entry:
<MOSS IP Address> <Fully Qualified Domain Name URL of MOSS>
For example:
135.122.22.1 sporg.testdomain.local.com
Additional settings in SharePoint Server configuration for accessing the List Web Part
On the SharePoint server that is configured for IFD, do the following steps:
- Log in as an Administrator.
- Edit the Host file to add the following host entry:
<Microsoft Dynamics CRM IP Address> <Fully Qualified Domain Name URL of Microsoft Dynamics CRM>
Additional settings in the List Web Part user's computer
On each Microsoft Dynamics CRM List Web Part user's computer, specify the Microsoft Dynamics CRM and SharePoint IFD URLs in the Hosts file using the following steps:
- Log in as an Administrator.
- Edit the Host file to add the following host entry:
<MOSS IP Address> <Fully Qualified Domain Name URL of MOSS>
<Microsoft Dynamics CRM IP Address> <Fully Qualified Domain Name of Microsoft Dynamics CRM>
Adding the List Web Part for Microsoft Dynamics CRM
After you have configured Microsoft Dynamics CRM Server and MOSS for the List Web Part, add a List Web Part for Microsoft Dynamics CRM. For more information, see Use the List Web Part for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0.
User privileges for the List Web Part
The List Web Part users must have Read privileges on the following:
- Entity
- Attribute
- Relationship
For more information about changing the access level for a security role, see Work with Security Roles.
