This page displays progress as the wizard uses the selected data map to map columns in your source files to the fields in Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online. For the columns that are not mapped, the wizard provides options of creating new fields in Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online, ignoring the data from the columns, or mapping columns to existing Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online fields.
This page appears when:
The wizard is not able to map at least one column in your source file to the fields in Microsoft Dynamics CRM using the selected data map.
- OR -
You selected Map Automatically on the Select Data Map page but the Import Data Wizard is unable to automatically map some of the columns to the fields in Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online and requires an input from you.
By default, the left pane shows a list of Microsoft Dynamics CRM record types. These record types are the source files that you mapped in the Map Record Types page.
Each record type is marked either with a green check mark or an alert mark to specify if the fields for the record type are already mapped or if the record type has at least one column that could not be mapped.
When you click any record type, the right pane shows a list of required and other fields for the record type.
Note
If you selected a data map to map your data, the Import Data Wizard selects a field as a possible match for each column in the source file, based on the mapping definitions in the selected data map. If you want the Import Data Wizard to automatically map the files, the column name and the display name of the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online field to which you want to import the data must exactly match.
For the columns that could not be mapped to the fields in Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online, the CRM Fields column shows a list of available fields to which you can map your source columns. You can also choose to either create a new field in Microsoft Dynamics CRM or skip importing data from the column.
Important
You must map all the mandatory fields before you continue. However, Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online populates some fields by default; shown as Ignore, and you do not need to map these fields to continue with your import. In some cases, such as Currency field for Opportunity record type is populated with the default value.
If a source column is mapped to multiple fields in Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online or if the fields are mapped through transformation mapping, the fields are shown as "Internally Mapped" and you cannot change the mappings for such columns. The target fields that are used in the transformation mapping or multiple mapping are not listed in the drop-down list to prevent you from mapping those fields with other source columns.
To map fields:
For each source data file that has a yellow warning message icon:
Click the file name, and in the right pane, choose one of the following:
If you want to map the unmapped columns, select the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online field to which it maps.
If no existing Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online field is appropriate for the data in the column and you want to create a new custom Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online field, create a new field.
For each unmapped column, under Actions, click Create New from the corresponding list.
In Field Name, type a name for the new field.
If the field with the name you entered already exists in Microsoft Dynamics CRM, you will be prompted to type a new name.
In Type, select the type for the field you want to create in Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online. The available options are: Text, Picklist, Bit, Integer, Decimal, Datetime, Lookup.
If you select Lookup from the list, in Related CRM Record Type, select a Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online record type to which the new field will be related. This list contains the existing Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online record types and the new custom record types that are created during the current import session.
Click OK.
Tip
You can filter the source fields using the filter list. You can choose to show all fields, show only unmapped fields, or show only mapped fields.
Important
You can create new fields only if the target record type for which you are creating this field is customizable and if you have the sufficient privileges. More information: Customize and pblish during import in Permissions required for customization tasks.
Note
If you create new custom fields for an existing record type or for a new record type that is created during the import, the fields are created and published, and the imported data is added into these fields. However, these fields are not added to the record type form automatically.
You will not see data imported into these fields on the record type form. If you want to see the data on the record type form, after the import is complete, you must navigate to Customizations and add the fields created during the import to their respective record type forms.
If you want to skip importing data from this column, click Ignore.
You will see a yellow warning message icon for all the columns that are not mapped.
Important
If a field used in a data map for mapping data is no longer available in Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online, an error is displayed. You will not be allowed to continue until you either map the source column to a different field or ignore the column.
Click Next when all your columns are either mapped or ignored.
