Many record types Groups of records. For example, all account records are grouped as the Account record type. Also called an entity. allow for activities Actions to be performed, such as tasks, or communication items that are sent or received, for example, e-mails, phone calls, letters, faxes, and appointments. The status of activities is tracked and the activity history is stored in the system, so users can view the open and closed activities. to be associated with them. For example, for an opportunity, you might have an associated phone call activity. When you close any associated activity with the status of completed, that activity shows up in the record history, which you can view by clicking History under Details in that record.
You can do the following in the History pane:
While the record is in draft form, you can create a new activity for this record by clicking the New Activity button. You can no longer do this when the record is activated. Note that even though you create this activity from the History pane, it will be displayed in the Activities pane while it is active. It will be displayed in the history pane after you set the status to completed.

The History pane for opportunities, accounts, and contacts includes these two drop-down boxes that help you narrow down the list of completed activities:
Filter on: use this to narrow down the list to a certain time period, such as Last 30 days.
Include: in this drop-down box, select This Record Only to see completed activities just for that record.
Select Related Regarding Recordsto pull in a list of activities that are related to any record associated with the account or contact. For example, let's say you have an account named Cerberus Expeditions. In this account, you create an order named Waterproof hiking boots. For the order, you create a phone call activity named Call to verify order.
Now, when you look at the Activities tab of the Cerberus Expeditions record, the Call to verify order is listed when you use the Related Regarding Records filter. Or, if you complete that activity, it will be listed on the History tab when you use the Related Regarding Records filter.
