In this video, we will show you how to set some basic system settings for Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online. The settings we will focus on initially are the customer name display format, the language formatting, and the fiscal year settings. You should complete these steps before you enter any information into Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online.
You can access system settings by going to the System Settings area of the application, and then clicking on the System Settings link. Once you’re into the System Settings area, the first option we are going to look at is the Name format. Here’s where I can actually decide how I want my customer names to be displayed, whether I want them first name, last name; last name, first name; whatever is most appropriate to your organization. You can pick that from the drop-down list.
I’m then going to go into the Formats area and I’m actually going to go and set the numeric and organizational formats, so I can pick various locales. The default is English (United States) but as you can see I can scroll up and maybe pick English (Canada) and it will change the format on how numbers and dates are displayed within the system. I then click OK, and those settings are now going to be saved in the system.
The last thing we’re going to do is we’re going to go into the Business Management area and we’re going to click on the Fiscal Year Settings. Now this can only be done once and once only at any point in time during your system set up, so you need to make sure that you get this set correctly. All I need to do is go in, pick a start date for my fiscal year, so typically that’s going to be 1st of January or it’s going to be 1st of July. In this case I’m going to go and set my fiscal year to start on the 1st of July, 2008, and then from there all I need to do is click the OK button. It will then warn me that I can only do this option once so we need to make sure that we’re sure of that and then I click OK, and that completes the basic system settings for CRM Online.
