Setup updates for Microsoft Dynamics CRM

Microsoft Dynamics CRM Setup has the ability to check for, download, and apply updates that are specific to the Setup program. To do this, you must have a connection to the Internet. To apply Setup updates without a connection to the Internet, follow the steps described in the "Apply Setup updates without Internet access" section later in this document.

Important

Setup updates only resolve issues specific to the Setup program. After Setup is complete, we recommend that you review and install the suggested updates described in the "Other recommended updates for Microsoft Dynamics CRM" section later in this document.

Sign up for product update notifications

If you want to know when updates have been released for Microsoft Dynamics CRM, you can sign up to receive e-mail notifications. Notifications may include information about security updates, updates to Microsoft Dynamics CRM that address feature requests from customers, or the release of a new version of Microsoft Dynamics CRM.

1. In the Microsoft Dynamics CRMWeb application, in the Navigation Pane, click Settings, click Administration, and then click Product Updates.

2. In the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Product Updates form, sign in to the Windows Live ID service.

3. Select the Subscribe option, confirm your e-mail format, e-mail address, and privacy options, and then click Continue.

Apply Setup updates without Internet access

You can download Setup updates so that they may later be applied during Setup. For example, you can download the Setup update from one computer that has Internet access, and then copy the updates to the computer where you want to run Setup or make the updates available on a network share. To do this, you must prepare an XML configuration file and run Setup from the command prompt. The basic steps to do this are as follows:
