Import Data Wizard - Map Record Types

This page displays progress as the Import Data Wizard uses the selected data map to map your source files to the record types in Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online. For files that are not mapped, the wizard provides options for creating new record types in Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online, ignoring the data from files, or mapping files to existing Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online record types.

This page appears in the following cases:

The Source Data Files column shows a list of your source files. The Microsoft Dynamics CRM Record Types column shows a Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online record type as a possible match for each of the source file listed in the Source Data Files column. You have an option to select a different record type than what the Import Data Wizard suggested.

Note

If you select a data map to map your data, the Import Data Wizard selects a record type as a possible match for your file based on map definitions in the data map you have selected. If you want the Import Data Wizard to automatically map the files, the source file name and the display name of the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online record type to which you want to import the data must exactly match.

Important

If you are using an existing data map to map a source file or field to Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online record type or field, and if that record type or field is no longer available in Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online at the time of import, the source file or field is shown as Not Mapped.

For the source file that could not be mapped to any record type in Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online, the CRM Record Types column shows a list of available record types and also provides an option to either create a new record type in Microsoft Dynamics CRM to map to the corresponding source file, or to skip importing data from the source file.

To map record types:

  1. For each unmapped source data file, if the file maps to an existing Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online record type, select the record type to which it maps.

    - OR -

If no existing Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online record type is appropriate for the data in your source file and you want to create a custom Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online record type, create a new record type.

To create a new record type

    - OR -

If you want to skip importing this file, click Ignore.

The Import Data Wizard will not import data from the file that is ignored.

You will see a green tick mark for all the files that are mapped.

  2. Click Next when all your files are either mapped or ignored.

Click Back to go back to the Select Data Map page.
