Restore ribbon controls to record forms
An open record form that does not display contextual controls on the ribbon (such as Save and Save & Close) is in read-optimized mode. Read-optimized forms open rapidly for quick viewing, and they prevent accidental editing. Ribbon controls are visible only when a form is in edit mode.
To open a record form in edit mode, do one of the following:
- If the record form is visible in a list, select it and then click Edit on the ribbon. The record form will open in edit mode with contextual controls on the ribbon.
- If the record form is already open in read-optimized mode, click Edit in the upper-left corner of the form. The record form will re-open in edit mode.
Note
A record form that contains content generated by a custom script will always open in edit mode, regardless of the system default or personal options.
If you want, you may be able to set the edit mode as your default view for a record form. In the Navigation pane, click File, click Options, and then click the General tab. If you see a section titled Default Mode for viewing forms, you can select Edit as your personal default for viewing all forms. If you don't see this option, you may ask your system administrator to select this option for you.
