Unblock URLs required for Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online

Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online uses several Microsoft URLs to help provide security, services, and features. However, your computer or your organization’s computer network may block access to some of these URLs. Blocking any of the required URLs will cause Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online to operate incorrectly or not at all. However, it's fairly simple to unblock the URLs in your computer browser or on your organization's network. Unblocking the URLs should restore your ability to use Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online.

You may see a network or server error message if your computer or your organization's network blocks the URLs you need. The error message might look like one of these:

  • "The specified Microsoft Dynamics CRM server address (URL) is not responding. Ask your administrator to verify that the server is turned on, and then try again."
  • "There is a problem communicating with the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Server. The server might be unavailable."

This procedure will show you how to unblock the necessary URLs for Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online.

You can unblock these URLs on your computer by adding them to a list of approved sites in Microsoft Internet Explorer.

Important

If the following procedure doesn’t unblock the URLs required for Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online, ask your system administrator to unblock the URLs on the organization’s network.

  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. On the Explorer bar, click the Tools icon (the white gear shape), and then click Internet options.
  3. In the Internet Options dialog box, click the Content tab, and in the Content Advisor area, click Settings.

    Note

If the Settings button is dimmed, click the Enable button and then click Yes in the User Account Control dialog box. If the Supervisor Password Required dialog opens, create or enter your password, or obtain the password from your system administrator, and then click OK.

  4. Click the Approved Sites tab. Under Allow this website, enter a URL from the appropriate list below. Determine which URL list you should use by opening Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online and looking at your organization's URL in the browser:
    • If the URL has"crm" after your organization's name, use the Organization URL contains "crm" list. For example, https://organization_name.crm.dynamics.com/main.aspx.
    • If the URL has "crm4" after your organization's name, use the Organization URL contains "crm4" list. For example, https://organization_name.crm4.dynamics.com/main.aspx.
    • If the URL has "crm5" after your organization's name, use the Organization URL contains "crm5" list. For example, https://organization_name.crm5.dynamics.com/main.aspx.

    Important

In the two highlighted URLs in each list, replace "<YourOrgName>" with the name of your organization, as shown in your Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online website’s name (for example, "https://contoso.crm.dynamics.com/main.aspx").

  5. After you enter each URL, click Always, and then enter another URL. Enter one URL at a time until you've entered all 14 URLs from the list.
  6. When all necessary URLs appear in the List of approved and disapproved websites, click Apply, and then click OK.
  7. If it is requested, create a supervisor password to prevent unauthorized users from changing your Content Advisor settings, create a hint to help you remember your password, and then click OK twice.
