Internet Lead Capture functionality migrates to the Windows Azure platform

To provide an improved experience for Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online customers, the Internet Lead Capture functionality is migrating to the Windows Azure platform on July 19, 2011. Read on for more information about how this affects your usage of Internet Lead Capture.

Note

Internet Lead Capture is available only for Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online customers in the United States and Canada who have signed up through the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online portal, and who have the English base language.

Customers who are using the Lead Capture form

If you have landing pages of type HTML Component, as shown in the screen shot, you don't have to take any further action. This form will continue to capture lead information for you.

Customers who are using the Lead Capture page

If you use a Microsoft-hosted landing page to capture lead information, you must re-create the landing pages on the Windows Azure platform after the migration.

Note

You have to do the following steps before the July 19, 2011 migration date. After this date, your old landing page information will no longer be available.

Follow these steps to make sure that your landing pages will work on the new platform.

Before the migration

  1. In the Navigation Pane, click Sales, click Internet Lead Capture, and then click View all landing pages.

Get Started with Internet Lead Capture

  2. On the Landing Pages page, note the names of all your landing pages of type Lead Capture Page. In this example, there is only one landing page of this type, and its name is "test".

    Create a landing page

  3. For each landing page of type Lead Capture Page, click its name to open it, and then click Page Preview. You have to re-create the page after the migration, so either note the name and placement of all fields and buttons on the page, or print the page. You'll have to use the exact same names when you re-create your landing pages.

After the migration

After Internet Lead Capture is migrated to the Windows Azure platform, follow these steps to re-create your landing pages. Make sure that you use the same names for these landing pages in order for the links to them to continue working.

  1. To re-create a landing page, in the Navigation Pane, click Sales, click Internet Lead Capture, and then click Create a new landing page.

    Create a new landing page

  2. On the Landing Pages tab, click Create Page.

    Click Create Page button

  3. On the Create New Landing Page page, in the Page URL text box, enter the name of the page that you want to re-create. In this example, the name is "test". Follow the wizard to finish creating the page. Use the information about the placement of the buttons and fields from the original landing page to make the new landing page.

Create a URL for the landing page

These steps will make sure that any links to the previous landing page continue to work with this new landing page. Repeat these steps for any other landing pages you need to re-create.

You have now migrated your landing pages to work with the new Internet Lead Capture Windows Azure platform.
